How much should I expect to pay for a website?
The prices listed on our website ($500 for Standard website and $2000 for eCommerce) are starting points. We will get you a quote for those prices if that covers your needs. However, these prices do not include most premium features, hosting costs or your domain name.
As projects become more complex, prices go up. We promise to be upfront about the price so there are no surprises.
Do we need to purchase web hosting through Donley Concepts?
No, but a lot of our clients do because they not want to deal with configuring web hosting services, or setting up their own domain name.
We will build your website wherever you want. All we need are the login credentials. Just make sure you understand the requirement before purchasing web hosting so you don’t find out your eCommerce website is not PCI compliant.
Which web hosting service do you recommend?
Just like website design and other technology trends, website hosting services are constantly changing. Since we are not affiliated with any web hosting company, we do not endorse any specific company for web hosting, but have used several throughout our experience.
For no extra cost, we can point you to a few different services and let you make the choice. However, if you want to keep it simple, we can manage and setup your web hosting for an affordable price.
PLEASE REMEMBER: If you are setting up an eCommerce website (online store), you will need to host your website on a SECURE SERVER (https not http). Hosting a website on a secure server is always more expensive, but it is necessary when operating a business with online transactions.
Where do I buy my domain name?
You can purchase your domain name through web hosting services or a web domain registrar. Since Donley Concepts offers web hosting as part of our services, we can simply include your domain fee with that purchase. You are more than welcome to shop around on your own. Since domain names vary in price, we cannot give you a price until we request it.
On a personal note, I would recommend determining your domain name after you have thought everything through. Most domains will cost you less than $10 per year, but some people get ideas in their head and see a domain name for $1000+ and think it’s going to make a big difference. Ultimately, your marketing will play a much bigger role in the success of your website than an expensive domain name.
Why the big jump in prices between Standard and eCommerce websites?
Our standard website is designed to be informational. Think of it as a digital billboard setting on the side of the information super-highway. The minute we start adding payment features, it turns into a store and it creates much more work including payment gateway setup, online store setup, individual product page description and image setup, and more.
Can I switch over to an eCommerce site later?
If you currently have a Standard Website (no online sales), we are glad to look at it and see what your best options are. Pricing varies from project to project.
If an online store is a high possibility for you later, but you are starting with a Standard Website, let us know ahead of time so we can lay down the appropriate foundation for later expansion. It will save us time and save you money in the future.
What type of website do I need if I plan on purchasing if I am using a Web Store Service like Infusionsoft or Ontraport?
If you are planning to use a monthly service provider such as Infusionsoft or Ontraport to sell products, your store is hosted on their secure servers. We will get your main website up and running and connect it to your store.
On our end, we would charge you for a eCommerce website, but that would include the setup of your Infusionsoft or Ontraport store. If you plan on setting up the store yourself, or it is already setup, we will price it out more similarly to a Standard website. Ultimately, it will require a discussion to figure out what your needs are.
I'm not tech savvy, is this a mistake?
Absolutely not! We can create a website that requires little to almost no regular maintenance. You also have the option for website training if you are interested in doing some updates yourself. If you are not interested in dealing with it at all, you can always setup an update plan that fits your needs. We have a few example Website Maintenance plans as well as Social Media Service plans found on our Other Web Services page.
I am pretty tech savvy. Is it possible to just get assistance on a website I already started?
We can charge by the hour or a flat rate per job. Just let us know what you are looking for and we’ll help in any way we can.
What email management software do you recommend?
There are many email management systems available. Constant Contact, MailChimp, Emma, Aweber, and many more. They all have similar features, but you need to figure out what your business email needs are. I have not found a system that contains every feature. We can help you determine which is best for you.
For a small fee, we can migrate your mailing list from one service to another.
